Groves Marching Band Camp 2009 – 2010

The Groves Marching Band Camp 2010 will be held on the campus of Groves H.S. starting on Monday, Aug. 17, 18, 19, and return on Monday, Aug. 24 and 25. Band Camp will begin at 8:45 am to 4:00pm. During the regular Band Camp, we will work on marching and playing fundamentals, and put our full Marching Band Show together. Band Camp is a requirement of the Band Program. You have made a commitment to the Groves Band Program, no exceptions will be made, no excuses will be accepted. Mr. Fred Procter, Groves Principal, and Mr. Thomas Flynn, Groves Athletic Director, has guaranteed that ALL sports practices have been scheduled so they don’t conflict with our camp. If a problem develops, you must tell me about it, and the coach will have to change the practice time.

The 2009 – 2010 Marching Band will be different this year because it will again meet as a class. This will, in fact, make the Marching Band stronger because of rehearsal time during school. I have bigger plans that will include a pre-game entrance for the football team. In keeping with our Groves tradition of Pride and Excellence in our Band Program, we expect and demand hard work and dedication from everyone. We will start off the year ‘knowing’ and ‘wanting’ to be OUR BEST.

Aug. 17, 18, 19 - 8:45am to 4:00pm Band Camp – All members of the Groves Band program (Marching Band)

  24th & 25th Band Camp - 8:45am to 3:00pm

***No exceptions will be made during this week.  If you are a member of this program, you are required to be at our band camp.

All Brass and Reed players will need to up-grade their mouthpieces and/or ligatures this year (if you haven’t already).

  • Clarinets: VanDoren B45, Selmer B* (star), or a KL15 mouthpiece
  • Rovner ligature or Bonade inverted ligature.
  • Alto/Tenor Sax: Selmer C* (star) or S 80 mouthpiece – Rovner ligature
  • Trumpet: Bach 5c or 3c mouthpiece
  • Trombone: Bach 6 ½ AL mouthpiece

You can get them at Anderson Music and ask for a Groves school discount. All Freshman and new students will have to purchase a Marching Band Polo Shirt for parades, etc., a Tux-shirt. The total cost is $40.00 due on the first day of camp.  Make all checks out to: Groves Band Boosters.
