Welcome to Groves High School Band! During band camp, band members will receive a fundraiser packet for participating in the (optional) sale of Little Caesars’ Pizza kits. Please check that your student has received and brought home a selling packet.   Each item sold earns the student $5 - $7 into their own student band account.  Any monies earned can be used for band trips and other band expenses during their years at Groves High School.

            Important dates to note:

Fundraiser Bottle Drive – 2/3 – 2/4/12  students will be leafleting Groves’ neighborhoods to collect pop bottles/cans; 2/11/12 – students go to same neighborhood homes to pick up pop bottles/cans. Student sign ups in the band room!  Return bottles to the stores and $ collected is brought to Patty Reynolds’, 31112 W. Chelton, Beverly Hills.  Questions? MSBOA - The Band and Orchestra Festival Schedule:
All band members in the ensembles listed below will perform and be evaluated by four, trained adjudicators:

Saturday March 3	Groves Symphony Band	performs at 12:40pm	at Lake Orion High School
Saturday March 3	Groves Wind Ensemble	performs at 3:10pm	at Lake Orion High School
Saturday March 17	Berkshire 7th Grade Band	performs at 9:25am	at South Lyon High School
Saturday March 17	Berkshire 8th Grade Band	performs at 11:00am	at South Lyon High School

     Please remember that attendance at Festival is mandatory and that we cannot perform to our potential without every student in attendance.  We will have spent 50+ hours of rehearsal preparing for 15 minutes of performing.  Every individual depends on every other individual to make the group successful.  We will bus from Groves/Berkshire to our performance location, wearing our uniforms.  We will perform, await our rating, go somewhere to eat, then return to Bev. Hills.

Rock-A-Thon – 3/3/12.  Student Fundraiser, held at Beverly Hills United Methodist Church (across the street from Groves).  Students bring their own rocking chairs and gather pledges for so much $ pledged per hour that they “rock”.  Check for sign ups in the band room. Money earned goes into each individual student’s account. Maybe used for trips, lessons, etc.

Banquet – An end of the year banquet is being planned for May 20, 2012.  Senior students will be honored at the banquet.  Mock awards and special honors will also be given out.  We need a few volunteers; please offer your help. 

Chicago Trip – The band is going to Chicago May 25-27, 2012.  Information was passed out to students.  RSVP with $ deposit by Feb. 7, 2012. 

Parades – The Groves marching band will be participating in the Birmingham City Parade on Sunday, May 20 and the Beverly Hills Memorial Day Parade on May 28, 2012.

 

Calling All Band Uniforms!

The Groves Marching and Concert Bands have instituted a new uniform policy this year, requiring all uniforms and tuxes to remain in the school.  If your son or daughter is no longer in band, please return their marching and tux uniforms to the Band Room. Please put you name on the uniforms and tuxes.  Tuxedo shirts are yours to keep—but we need the rest of the uniform pieces.
